We interviewed Natalie, a Process Technician, one of a team who work in our Sterile Services Unit (HSSU) in Bristol, who gives us a great insight into the team she works with and why she loves working with us.

I have worked for Nuffield Health since October 2017, I previously worked for the NHS as a Process Technician for six years so I knew what to expect. When I saw Nuffield Health were recruiting for the opening of the unit here in Bristol I was excited and intrigued. I always thought very highly of their not for profit organisation strategy and their strong morals in relation to providing the highest quality of patient care. On the other hand I was hesitant about leaving the NHS as I felt safe there. I was drawn to the prospect of working for an incredibly positive private healthcare organisation, to get the opportunity to work my way up to a Lead Technician and even a Production Team Leader was always something I aspired to.

The company have an amazing rewards package, pension scheme, free private healthcare and free gym membership. The gyms are really excellent with an extensive range of classes from spin to yoga and what makes it even better is you don’t feel intimidated as a new comer as everyone is at a mixed ability level. It really gets you thinking about your health and well being. Nuffield Health really strive for all of their employees to have a good work life balance which is really important.

I am currently working towards becoming a Lead Technician within my unit as I have received a lot of positive feedback and support in my goals from fellow employees and management. There are extra courses you can attend like First Aid, IDSC (Institution of Decontamination Sciences) and a course to become an internal auditor within Nuffield Health. The team here is smaller than I am used to but we are like a little family, we all support one another. We are all very different and with some of us who have been doing this job for over 20 years, to some only two months, but either way we all help one another and are a welcoming, supportive and  friendly bunch!

As we don’t work directly work with patients here at the HSSU it’s really lovely when we are thanked for our continuous hard work from the hospitals, Easter and Christmas especially! Our hospitals always send us over lots of chocolate and treats as a thank you which always makes us smile!

All in all I so far have enjoyed every moment of my career with Nuffield Health and I am so glad I took the leap! I feel happier and healthier and I am very much looking forward to seeing where the next few years take me here.
