Salary: Competitive (Equivalent to AFC band 7), additional overtime uplifts and shift enhancements if required

In 2021, we’ll open the doors to Nuffield Health at St Bartholomew’s Hospital: The City of London’s only independent hospital, situated next to St Bartholomew’s NHS hospital, Nuffield Health at St Barts will be our flagship centre for cardiac services and will also provide a full range of surgical and medical services, including: orthopaedics, oncology, general surgery, gynaecology and urology surgery.
The new hospital will consist of:
48 inpatient and day case bedrooms
Three digital operating theatres
Cardiac catheterisation lab
Specialist intensive care beds
Oncology day unit
Endoscopy and minor ops theatre
Full diagnostic imaging suite
We are looking for an experienced clinical practice educator to cover our critical care and general medical/surgical educational responsibilities across the hospital. We’ll expect you to actively contribute to service development, policy and strategy development, and take an active role in the development of our clinical induction program to prepare the hospital to open in 2021. Once the hospital is operational, you will support individuals and teams to deliver high quality, clinically effective patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Together with the Matron and Clinical Heads of Department for the Hospital you will be required to assist in the planning and delivery of educational requirements developing the educational strategy for the hospital, in line with GPICS standards and national nursing educational strategies. Along the way, you'll build strong relationships with the UK’s leading consultants, hospital senior leaders, a wide range of healthcare professionals and, of course, patients. Working collaboratively alongside our clinician experts, you’ll ensure patients benefit from the best possible treatment and care. We would consider full time or part-time applications dependant on breadth of knowledge and experience.
Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, your specialist training must include an educational post-graduation qualification, minimally trained to ILS standard but ideally ALS and CALS (training can be offered once in post). To provide educational services to Critical Care, a post graduate qualification in this is also essential. You will have experience of managing Cardiac surgery, Cardiology and/or Critical Care patients (both level 2 and 3) and have a minimum of 3 years’ senior experience. A clinical assessment skills/ physical examination course would be desirable.
You’ll be accountable for motivating, educating, supporting and supervising the nursing team, including business planning and development, audits and clinical governance, infection prevention, health and safety, and risk analysis. The expectation of this role is to work clinically across the hospital to support all educational services, this includes working clinically on a regular basis across all aspects of the hospital and/or Critical Care if relevant.
