Salary: Competitive (Equivalent to AFC band 8a/b)

In 2021, we’ll open the doors to Nuffield Health at St Bartholomew’s Hospital: The City of London’s only independent hospital, situated next to St Bartholomew’s NHS hospital, Nuffield Health at St Barts will be our flagship centre for cardiac services and will also provide a full range of surgical and medical services, including: orthopaedics, oncology, general surgery, gynaecology and urology surgery.
The new hospital will consist of:
48 inpatient and day case bedrooms
28 consultation rooms
Three digital operating theatres
Cardiac catheterisation lab
Specialist intensive care beds
Oncology day unit
Endoscopy and minor ops theatre
Full diagnostic imaging suite including MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography and general X-ray
Together with the Matron you will be operationally responsible for the day to day management of the Cardiac Ward, General Ward, Critical Care and all Cardiac services. We’ll expect you to continue to develop and deploy the full Cardiac services ready for opening autumn 2021. Once the hospital is operational, you will support the clinical leaders to deliver high quality, clinically effective patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Relationship building is vital for this role as strong relationships will be needed with consultants, hospital senior leaders, a wide range of healthcare professionals and, of course, patients. Working collaboratively alongside the consultants, you’ll establish the service and ensure patients benefit from the best possible treatment and care.
The successful candidate will need to have strong clinical leadership with a background in Cardiology and /or Cardiac surgery, have experience in leading and managing clinical teams and championing the delivery of the highest quality patient care: care that is patient-centred, evidence-based, brand-defining and innovative. As the Cardiac Services Manager, you will establish and implement local strategy, role-modelling and championing clinical excellence and deputise for the Matron in their absence.
Along with a willingness to embrace innovative ways of working you will be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, your specialist training must include a Cardiac Care postgraduate qualification and a minimum of ALS and ideally CALS, management qualifications are desirable. You will have an impressive senior level knowledge and will have a minimum of 3 years’ senior management experience within a Cardiac setting. You’ll need to be equipped for business planning and development, policy and strategy development, audits and clinical governance, infection prevention, health and safety, risk analysis and have the to identify opportunities and act upon them.
