Bundles of challenge and job satisfaction

Meet Rebecca Roll, Radiology Manager at our Tunbridge Wells Hospital. We asked Rebecca why she chose a career at Nuffield Health, what she enjoys most and her proudest moments.

What made you want to pursue a career in your role?

It was a brief chat and demonstration from a radiographer who came to my 6th form college who inspired me. The blend of using cutting edge technology whilst caring for patients in need drew me in. I was always fascinated by the level of detail in the in images and I still am today.

What made you choose a career with Nuffield Health?

I worked for 13 years at our local Trust and I loved it but I needed a new challenge.  It was a tall order as I had a young family that I wanted to be there for but also wanted to progress my skills and knowledge in my career.  Nuffield was able to meet my demands and here I am nearly 8 years later!

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I really enjoy the culture of the organisation and the support I get from my line managers.  Everyone is really friendly and I have to say that the free gym membership is a definite perk!

Describe your colleagues and your relationship as a team?

I have an excellent, hard working team who are out to help one another.  I feel supported by them and I hope they do by me too, we are a work family after all!

Tell us about a proud moment you’ve had in your role?

There are too many to think of!  When I was leading the MRI team, there were so many patients who were eternally grateful for the care they received and that always made me swell with pride a little.  Now that I manage the MRI team, I get the same warm feeling when I see them get hugs from grateful patients.

Recently, a proud feeling was seeing people in my team and other departments pull together to help a new starter who was new to the area.  I think it really showed who we are and how much we care about our staff.
