Pre Assessment is a vital part of our nursing care as it assesses suitability for general anaesthetic and/or sedation as well as understanding any pre-existing health conditions you may have to ensure your surgery can be completed safely. As a Bank Healthcare Assistant in our Pre Assessment department, you will work closely with our nurses who will perform pre-operative assessments, involving taking a full medical/nursing and social history. Routine observations will be then be recorded and will include: Blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height and weight. An electrocardiogram (ECG) may also be requiredand Phlebotomy skillls are essential. You will have excellent people skills. And if you’re qualified to NVQ Level 2 or 3, with relevant experience in an acute hospital or care setting, that’s even better.

As a Bank Pre-Assessment Health Care Assistant, you will:

  • Have previous work experience taking blood
  • Fully understand and support the needs of each patient and their family
  • Offer comfort and reassurance, providing the highest standards of care
  • Build your experience across new practices, equipment and facilities
  • Work with practitioners in other areas, understanding that continuity in patient care is key
  • Be ECG trained and phlebotomy trained
  • Be part of a close-knit team

Overtime

For clinical roles grade 9 and below, the overtime is at a standard rate of pay. For unsocial hours, you’ll be paid an additional enhancement to your salary at the following rates: Nights Hours worked between 7pm and 7am on any day of the week, 30% of basic hourly rate. Weekends Hours worked between 7am and 7pm on a Saturday or Sunday, 20% of basic hourly rate. Bank Holidays Hours worked between midnight and midnight of a bank holiday, 100% of basic hourly rate.
