Are you a Nuffield Health colleague with a clinical or healthcare background, looking to broaden your experience and expand your professional portfolio?

This is a great opportunity to step into a company‑wide role and make a meaningful contribution to how we support colleague health and wellbeing across Nuffield Health.

We’re seeking an Occupational Health Lead to oversee the delivery, governance and continuous improvement of Occupational Health (OH) services across the charity. This role offers excellent exposure across the organisation and is ideal for someone looking to develop their experience in service management, governance and wellbeing, alongside their existing clinical or healthcare knowledge.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for the day‑to‑day management and coordination of Occupational Health services, acting as a knowledgeable internal point of contact and ensuring services are delivered in line with contractual, regulatory and quality expectations.

The role involves managing relationships with third‑party OH providers, overseeing service delivery activity, advising leaders and colleagues on Occupational Health processes, and contributing to wider wellbeing and compliance activity across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Occupational Health clinical governance activity, including assurance processes, audit input, policy compliance and appropriate incident escalation.

  • Manage the day‑to‑day relationship with third‑party OH providers, monitoring performance, reviewing activity data and supporting continuous service improvement.

  • Provide guidance and advice across the colleague lifecycle, including pre‑placement screening, fitness for work referrals, routine health surveillance, immunisation programmes and sickness absence case support.

  • Support wellbeing and compliance activity, including DSE processes, driver medicals, mental health screening and workplace health campaigns.

  • Contribute to relevant organisational forums such as EAGs, the Healthy Work Forum and the Quality Board, sharing themes, insight and emerging risks.

  • Develop and maintain clear organisational guidance and communications in response to emerging health issues, changes in practice or regulatory requirements.

About You

You’ll bring experience from a clinical, healthcare, wellbeing or related environment, with an interest in Occupational Health practice, governance and evidence‑based approaches to employee health.

You don’t need to be a specialist Occupational Health practitioner; however, you’ll be comfortable working with health‑related information, interpreting data, advising on risk and engaging confidently with a range of stakeholders to support good practice.

Qualifications

  • Degree‑level qualification or equivalent experience/learning

  • Clinical or healthcare professional background desirable, but not essential (e.g. NMC SCPHN (OH), GMC Specialist Register with FOM membership)

  • Experience working with Occupational Health services, health governance or wellbeing initiatives is an advantage

Hints & Tips

Help with your application.

Once you’ve found the right role for you, you can apply online. All you need to do at this stage is submit your CV, a covering email, and a few personal details.

Our recruitment team screens all of the applications we receive. So, if they see that you’ve got the right sort of skills and experience needed for the role, your details will be passed on to the relevant hiring manager. Then, if you fit all the criteria at this stage, you’ll be invited to take part in a video, telephone or face-to-face interview.

CV

Think about the skills and qualities asked for in the job description and show how you’ve applied those same skills and qualities in other roles. Focus on the things that will make us want to see more of you.

Covering email

Your CV will contain details about why you’d be a good fit for the role, but it’s well worth adding a short, snappy paragraph pulling out the two or three most compelling reasons as to why you’d be perfect for the job in your covering email..

Video interview

The video interview lasts 15-20 minutes if you get to this stage. On the day, look the part, be aware of your surroundings and practice your answers to feel prepared. Most of all, relax and be yourself.

DBS Checks

Some of our roles require a DBS check and they are processed through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) as part of the recruitment process. These checks are to assist employers in making safer recruitment decisions. However, a check is just one part of robust recruitment practice.

Documents

You could be asked to provide proof of vaccinations as part of our Occupational Health pre-employment screening. We know it can be time consuming to get this information if you don’t already have it to hand, so we encourage you to start preparing this information to avoid any delays to the onboarding process.

Your current studies

If you are currently undertaking any strudies, education or apprenticeships, its worth noting there are some training provider we're not partnered with, and therefore potentially unable to support your continued learning. Ensure you share this at interview and for queries contact psc@nuffieldhealth.com
