Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Manager
Barbican, London | Hybrid Working | Fixed Term Contract: 12 Months | Full-Time
Competitive salary available, depending on experience
37.5 hours per week

At Nuffield Health, we're committed to building a healthier nation - combining our expertise in fitness and wellbeing with our award-winning healthcare services. As the UK's largest healthcare charity, we place the financial stewardship of our organisation at the heart of everything we do, ensuring our resources are directed where they make the most difference to our members, patients and communities.

The Role

This is an opportunity to join our central Finance team in a senior FP&A role sitting at the core of how Nuffield Health plans, performs and reports. As FP&A Manager, you will own the budgeting and forecasting cycle, lead month-end reporting to the ExCo and Board, and provide strategic financial insight to support sound decision-making across the charity. Working closely with the FP&A Director, you will help shape the medium-term plan and drive improvements across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Own the annual budget process and rolling forecasts, producing a consolidated P&L across all platforms - hospitals, fitness and wellbeing, and central functions. Engage directly with senior stakeholders through the budget cycle to challenge assumptions, manage risks and support operational decision-making

  • Scenario Modelling: Build and maintain financial models to test scenarios, inform strategic choices and support the charity in planning under uncertainty

  • Month-End Reporting: Produce and own the financial packs for ExCo and Board meetings, delivering clear performance commentary and variance analysis against budget and forecast

  • Risk and Opportunities: Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities, tracking actions and escalating where required to keep the organisation on track. Champion financial performance by delivering high-quality insight and challenge across the charity

  • Benchmarking and KPIs: Develop and maintain a suite of KPIs and benchmarks to track financial and operational performance, including monitoring the external market and competitor landscape to contextualise Nuffield Health's position

  • Support Strategic Planning: Work closely with the FP&A Director on the medium-term strategic plan, developing planning tools and models that improve quality and efficiency across the finance function

  • Operational Finance: Manage the financial reporting timetable, coordinating inputs across the finance function to ensure deadlines are met consistently

  • Ad Hoc Analysis: Respond to ad hoc data requests from senior stakeholders, providing accurate, well-structured analysis to support decision-making

About You

You'll be a technically strong, commercially minded finance professional who is equally comfortable building a consolidated P&L as you are presenting to a Board audience. You'll also bring:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience in FP&A or senior finance business partnering

  • Proven experience consolidating budgets and P&Ls across a complex, multi-entity or multi-divisional organisation; experience with Adaptive Planning or a similar enterprise planning tool would be an advantage.

  • Confidence operating at C-suite level, with strong influencing and communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships quickly

  • The ability to translate financial complexity into clear, Board-ready narratives and high-quality slide decks

Help with your application.

Once you’ve found the right role for you, you can apply online. All you need to do at this stage is submit your CV, a covering email, and a few personal details.

Our recruitment team screens all of the applications we receive. So, if they see that you’ve got the right sort of skills and experience needed for the role, your details will be passed on to the relevant hiring manager. Then, if you fit all the criteria at this stage, you’ll be invited to take part in a video, telephone or face-to-face interview.

CV

Think about the skills and qualities asked for in the job description and show how you’ve applied those same skills and qualities in other roles. Focus on the things that will make us want to see more of you.

Covering email

Your CV will contain details about why you’d be a good fit for the role, but it’s well worth adding a short, snappy paragraph pulling out the two or three most compelling reasons as to why you’d be perfect for the job in your covering email..

Video interview

The video interview lasts 15-20 minutes if you get to this stage. On the day, look the part, be aware of your surroundings and practice your answers to feel prepared. Most of all, relax and be yourself.

DBS Checks

Some of our roles require a DBS check and they are processed through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) as part of the recruitment process. These checks are to assist employers in making safer recruitment decisions. However, a check is just one part of robust recruitment practice.

Documents

You could be asked to provide proof of vaccinations as part of our Occupational Health pre-employment screening. We know it can be time consuming to get this information if you don’t already have it to hand, so we encourage you to start preparing this information to avoid any delays to the onboarding process.

Your current studies

If you are currently undertaking any strudies, education or apprenticeships, its worth noting there are some training provider we're not partnered with, and therefore potentially unable to support your continued learning. Ensure you share this at interview and for queries contact psc@nuffieldhealth.com
