Software Engineer – Integration

We're looking for an experienced Software Engineer - Integration to join our Integration Squad. In this role, you'll design, develop and support modern integration services and APIs that underpin our digital healthcare platforms. Working across the full software delivery lifecycle, you'll help build resilient, scalable solutions while embracing cloud-native technologies, automation and DevOps principles. As our Software Engineer you will:  

  • Design, develop, maintain and support microservices and API-based integration solutions that enable secure and reliable connectivity across Nuffield Health systems and third-party platforms. 

  • Contribute to the delivery and operation of cloud-based services, ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient and aligned to engineering best practice. 

  • Build and maintain automated deployment pipelines, infrastructure and environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and modern DevOps tooling. 

  • Implement robust testing practices, including unit and integration testing, to ensure high levels of software quality and reliability. 

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, QA Engineers and stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet business and customer needs. 

  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions and continuous improvement activities, helping to maintain high engineering standards across the team. 

  • Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, while supporting the ongoing performance, security and availability of integration platforms. 

To succeed as a Software Engineer you’ll bring: 

  • Proven experience developing microservices and API integrations using Java 21, Spring Boot, Maven, messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ, and integration frameworks including Apache Camel. 

  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices and experience with tools including Git, GitHub Actions, Docker, Azure DevOps, Terraform and Ansible. 

  • Experience working with SQL databases, including query development, troubleshooting and supporting application delivery. 

  • Sound knowledge of software engineering principles, design patterns and Agile delivery methodologies, with a focus on building high-quality solutions. 

  • Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills, with a passion for continuous learning and modern software engineering practices.
