As we continue to develop new products and services to innovate the health, fitness and wellbeing industry our Health and Wellbeing Physiologists will play a crucial role in the delivery of multi-practitioner programmes working alongside Doctors, Physiotherapists, Nutritional Therapists, Occupational Health practitioners and Personal Trainers.
Nuffield Health has an integrated ethos, and the role of a Health and Wellbeing Physiologist conforms to this vision. As a result you could be working in a variety of facilities across the organisation including hospitals, Fitness & Wellbeing Centres, medical centres and even corporate sites. Regardless of your base location you will be required to draw upon a diverse skillset to elicit behavioural change in your clients by coaching them in a wide range of health-related areas including stress management, nutrition, exercise and sleep health using contemporary research to develop tailored lifestyle plans. Furthermore, working at a corporate site offers the unique, but challenging, opportunity to support major corporate organisations in developing their employee wellbeing programmes.
Upon joining our team, your Nuffield Health career journey begins with a residential clinical training camp, followed by operational training during which you will receive ILS and Phlebotomy training in addition to site-specific training and clinical sign-off procedures.
During your first 18 months you will be required to complete additional training including ECG accreditation and an externally recognised Advanced Level 7 Diploma in Health and Wellbeing Physiology (MSc Equivalent), to consolidate your clinical development to date. Upon completion of your Diploma you will enter our diverse continued professional development (CPD) programme, the completion of which is mandatory. Additionally, all Health and Wellbeing Physiologists are members of The Royal Society for Public Health, who act as our professional body and guide our scope of practice and code of conduct.
To join us, you’ll need a 2:2 Sport and Exercise Science degree, or an equivalent degree, as a minimum. You’ve studied human physiology, exercise, biochemistry, anatomy/biomechanics, psychology and nutrition.
