Committed to patient care

Meet Kathi Jackman, Director of Clinical Services at Nuffield Health Hayward’s Heath Hospital.

What made you want to pursue a career in your role?

I always wanted to be a nurse and have been qualified for 31 years.

I thoroughly enjoy my role and our team function in a happy and positive way to ensure our teams are valued and consequently our patients are well cared for.

I’ve been working at Nuffield Health for 6 years and working 24 years in leadership.

What made you choose a career with Nuffield Health?

Nuffield Health has a strong set of core values and ethics which empower us to be the best we can. Our hospital provides a collaborative and supportive environment where everyone shares a passion for doing the right thing – for our patients and each other.

Has completed lots of training working at Nuffield and achieved BSC honors in professional practice funded by Nuffield Health, this consisted 1 day a fortnight over 4 years. And included a variety of research, academic modules and I completed a dissertation on the impact of management style on the team.

It’s amazing that Nuffield Health support development opportunities like this.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

The fact that everyday brings a new challenge, no 2 days are the same!

What do you enjoy most about working at Nuffield Health?

The culture, the vibe, the inclusiveness of the team.

Describe your colleagues and your relationship as a team?

Committed to patient care and each other, we collaborate daily always with our patients at the front of our mind.

Tell us about a proud moment you’ve had in your role?

Nuffield health promote a We CARE Values Recognition Scheme which is a values-based recognition scheme which celebrates success and reminds us every day of what we're achieving   I am very proud to have received these awards.

Tell us about a time where Nuffield Health supported you?

Nuffield Health supported me to undertake my degree to progress my professional development. There is a 24-hour free counselling service that I know has provided a great deal of support in challenging times.

Tell us about a memory at Nuffield Health that you will never forget?

In covid our team were working together closely to serve the needs of our patients and working closely with our NHS colleagues.  I sent a request in to a national radio show to do a shout out to the Haywards Heath team to recognise their hard work.  I was listening to the Radio show on the way to work one morning when the shout out was made.  When I got to work, lots of the staff had heard it and this gave us all a boost and made me cry with pride!
