Ensuring everyone is looked after

Andy Bleasby, our Theatre Mnaager at Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital joined us after wanting to try something different after working at a local trust. We asked Andy about his most memorable moments working at Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital.

What made you choose a career with Nuffield Health?

After working at the local trust I wanted to try something different, I had previous experience of working in the private sector. I like the fact that we do different specialities each day.

What do you enjoy most about working at Nuffield Health?

I like the mixture of cases that come through my hospital, we deal with major specialities such as Cardiac & Neurosurgery

Describe your colleagues and your relationship as a team?

I feel I’m fair to all and try to ensure that I look after my team. Having worked as part of the team I can relate better to their needs.

Tell us about a proud moment you’ve had in your role?

I think I have a few, I manage 124 staff which is a challenge but we have good people who show commitment for the team, gaining ‘Outstanding’ rating by the CQC after a short space of been in charge is up their too.

Tell us about a time where Nuffield Health supported you?

Nuffield have supported me on many occasions either by providing education or capital investment.

What is your favourite patient, customer or client story?

I think it’s always nice when you look after a colleague going through surgery, makes them feel at ease.

Tell us about a memory at Nuffield Health that you will never forget?

Travelling to the Philippines to interview overseas nurses is definitely a highlight
