Finding new challenges every day

We spoke to Heather Gillham, one of our Advanced Level Physiotherapist (ALP) and Candidate Relationship Manager. Heather joined us 10 years ago and talks us through her career and what she enjoys most about  working at Nuffield Health.

What made you want to pursue a career in your role?

My current ALP role has been great to challenge myself clinically, I’ve developed skills in complex case management and diagnostics. The role is similar to the NHS FCP, but is flexible and there is the opportunity to work from home. The team is so experienced and supportive, it’s a great learning environment.

What made you choose a career with Nuffield Health?

I started my career in the NHS 15 years ago, and was looking to move into the private sector after specialising in MSK.  Nuffield Health had a great set up with their clinics in gym spaces and as a large company, there were lots of opportunities to progress, learn and try different roles, 10 years later and after a variety of clinical, triage and management roles I’m still here and finding new challenges, now supporting physio recruitment!

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Variety in a job is key for me. It’s great to use my skillset in a broader sense than just patient facing. For example, in my recruitment role I have been able to learn about new areas of the business, meet new colleagues and also keep my clinical skills up alongside this with the ALP role.

Describe your colleagues and your relationship as a team?

The ALP team has recently expanded and has a wealth of experience to draw upon if you ever have a patient query, there is always someone to discuss it with.   The Leads are supportive and responsive managers, keeping us in the loop and encouraging discussions and collaborations. Despite us working remotely, it feels like your part of a successful team.

What is the benefits, support, CPD & career pathways like?

Nuffield Health has a good benefits package including free gym membership, private medical, cycle to work scheme, pension, flexible working. There is monthly CPD and clinical supervision sessions, and funding is available for external courses including a masters through our Academy.
