Living the Nuffield Health values

Meet Judith Taylor, our Finance Business Partner for Glasgow, Tees & Newcastle hospital.

How long have you worked for Nuffield Health?

6 Years

Tell us about the team you work in?

I work within the Finance Directorate but as a FBP I have a lot of input into the Hospital Sites. I check how they are performing financially but also help to support them with decision making and writing business cases for investment for new equipment or to start new services.

Why did you choose to work at Nuffield Health?

My background was working within the NHS finance functions, so it felt like a natural step into independent healthcare. But what really sold Nuffield to me was the community and charitable work undertaken and the great culture and team spirit, which was evident from my first visit to Newcastle for an interview.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Nuffield Health?

The teams! From housekeeper to ODP to HD we are all one team of hardworking people who want the best for the beneficiaries and each other! It’s a great supportive environment and everybody genuinely cares and lives the Nuffield Health Values.

What is your career highlight/s?

During 2018/19 I studied a master’s degree in strategic business management, which was 50% funded by Nuffield. I managed to pass this with a Distinction within a year, so this is definitely one of my personal highlights.

Tell us about your career progression at Nuffield Health?

I started in 2016 as Deputy Finance Manager and within a year was promoted to Finance Manager which I held for around 4 years before moving into the Finance Business Partner Role covering multi-sites.

How do you use your employee benefits?

I occasionally use the gym and have made use of the private health insurance in the past. The health and wellbeing check is very useful. I have also utilised the Employee Assistance Programme when I’ve needed some additional support.

What does the Equity Forum at Nuffield Health mean to you?

I enjoy being part of the equity forum as it opens my eyes into current issues for example Nuffield’s Gender Pay Gap Report and Mentoring Programmes. I like that I can share some of the work that group do around Muslim and LBGTQ+ Networks with the wider audience, due to my links in with the Hospital Teams.
