Making work enjoyable

We asked Katrina Lou Sia, one of our Staff Nurse’s (General Surgery / Orthopaedic Ward) working at our St Bartholomew’s Hospital about what made her chose to come at work for us and the team at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

Why did you choose to come and work for Nuffield Health?

As an international nurse, Nuffield Health offered a lot of benefits to help us settle and adjust to the UK as we start our new career. There is also a good sense of camaraderie among the staff at St. Barts, which makes work more worthwhile.

Can you tell us a bit about your department?

Our in-patient wards are currently joined together to cater general surgery, orthopaedics, and cardiac cases. The team is composed of highly skilled individuals who are very willing to help new nurses like me.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Nuffield Health?

Perhaps it would be the good team work and support that we have in the ward that makes work enjoyable, and since the hospital is not that huge, we get to know everyone from other departments as well.

What are your career highlights?

Since I am quite new in my career at Nuffield Health, I would say that receiving warm compliments from our patients is one of the highlights of my job as a nurse. The learnings that I get from working with my colleagues gives me the confidence and gives me something to look forward to when working.
